留学简历的基本内容

留学简历一般包括个人信息(姓名、通讯方式)、要申请的职位或目标、工作经历、教育背景、发表的文章、英语考试成绩、所获得的各种奖励和荣誉、业余活动、推荐人的基本信息等九项基本内容。在写每一项内容时,应注意时间顺序为倒叙,即把与现在接近的事情写在前面,遥远的事情写在后面。留学简历长度一般控制在1-2页内,字体用小4
或5号。

一、页眉:留学简历要有页眉,内容包括学生姓名和出生日期。

姓名:按照中文名字的顺序用拼音写出名字,并用逗号区分姓和名,用Mr. 或Ms. 说明性别,例如Ms. Luo,
Weiying。特别需要注意的是,无论你参加TOEFL/GRE考试,还是在填写各种各样的申请表格时,名字的拼写顺序一定要保持一致,否则,录取委员会的工作人员会认为是两个人而把申请材料分成两个档案。

出生日期:按照月/日/年mm/dd/yyyy 格式,其中月份要用英文,例如 August 8,
2008。需要注意年份必须完全写明,不可用08代替2008;月份必须用英文拼出或采用公认的简写,即 January (Jan.),February
(Feb.),March(Mar.),April(Apr.),May,June,July,August (Aug.),September
(Sept.),October(Oct.),November(Nov.),December(Dec.);日期可用序数词,如:1st,2nd,3rd,4th,...;也可用基数词,如:1,2,3,4,...。但美式大多采用后者;在年份和月日之间必须用逗号隔开;日期不可全部采用如7.12.2003或7/12/2003的阿拉伯数字书写,否则会引起误解。因为英美在这方面的习惯用法不同。按美国人习惯,上述日期为2003年7月12日,而按英国习惯则是2003年12月7日。

四、工作经历或科研经历

工作经历是简历里不可缺少的部分。理工科学生的实验室工作属于科研经历,不要与工作后的科研经历分开。虽然有是否拿工资的区别,但科学研究的本质是一样的。实验室技能对录取和奖学金起到至关重要的作用。具体内容应包括以下几项:

受聘或科研项目起止日期

受聘公司或参与的科研项目的名称:如果公司是世界知名的大公司,只要写出公司名字即可;如果公司只在国内很有名但外国人并不知道,就要用简洁的一两句话加以介绍。

受聘期间的部门和职位

具体工作职责和成绩:这部分是工作经历或科研经历的核心内容,应根据要申请的专业所要求的能力,有选择地列举相关内容以及在从事这些工作时所获得的奖励。对于与申请专业无关或对申请没有任何帮助的经历则要毫不留情地删掉。在这部分,要注意使用动词来加强和突出申请者的能力或业绩。如果动词用的是一般过去时或现在分词,其他的动词也要保持一种平行结构。例如:

五、教育背景

教育背景是留学简历最重要的内容。对于申请学位,教育背景比工作经历更重要,一般写在简历的前面部分。但对于工作多年或没能拿到学位的申请者,教育背景应该放在后面写,而把能突出申请者丰富工作经验和能力的工作经历放在前面写。教育背景包括以下内容:

毕业学校的名字:如果是申请硕士以上学位,从大学写起,不必写中学。涉及到在国内学校的名字,课程名称要与成绩单或学校网站上一致
(如果不清楚,用其它颜色重点标记)

入校日期和毕业日期

所学专业:涉及到要申请学校的专业,系,学院名字,一定要跟每个学校网上的专业名称核对 (如果不清楚,用其它颜色重点标记)

获得的学位:涉及到在国内拿到学位,跟材料部门同事确认BE,BS,BA,MS,ME……

在校期间的GPA:若成绩单上有,一定写成绩单上的;没有,就空着

六、发表的文章 具体内容应包括:
